That far below middle C seems awfully low to me, lower than the register of a real bass. When I play that low, the bass doesn't sound very good, but it doesn't suddenly decay if I hold it down. Check your DSP for tone to see if the voice is tuned at -2 octaves. I think that's the default. I find the bass sound pleasing as long as I don't play below E2.
