The only problem I've found with the 740 is that playing a fast style with all the instruments and then hitting as many notes as possible as fast as possible will cause the rhythm to slow down. The reason for this is that the CPU is a 28MHz processor running at 7MHz. Yamaha's excuse is that the support chips won't run any faster. However, the DSPs are in a different chip and not constrained by the limitations of the CPU. I've never had the slow down problem on the 740 because I've never been able to play that many notes at once in a normal tune. I imagine this is why Yamaha were never too worried about the problem.
