People from Liverpool/Merseyside are generally known as 'scousers'. Personally I think (and I will get sooo much flack for this) the accent/ dialect grates like fingernails on a chalkboard. It is true that here in Lancashire our dialect is not much more refined saying things like 'nowt' meaning nothing and coo coo instead of cuckoo!

However there are those of us who, trying to emulate our own dear Queen, try to speak all refined like wot should be spoke!

Hence we say Powend instead of pound growend instead of ground and best of all start EVERY conversation with the phrase 'My husband and I....'
