I connect synth to my PC. I turned local control off an set general midi option to 'external sequencer'. The I edit the file in pc (set volumes, pans, effects,...) and played back with Korg's sounds defined in computer software with Korg's instruments definition file downloaded from www.korgpa.com.

Then I copy the file to the synth. Turn local control ON, set general midi option to sequencer A (I stored this settings with Write global-midi setup). The playback is complete mess of sounds. The drums are not ok. 'Strange' Hi-hats and all others --> like You said: multiple but wrong instruments.
