The sounds of the 1000 and 740 are just about the same .
The 1000 offers better sequencing vs. the 740 IMO .
For live use ....I would think that the 740 would be better . The 740 has a keypad .
This allows you to punch in a number for sound and style changes .
The PSR1000 is more LCD display dependant .
I also like the grooves and dynamics feature on the 740 as well .
Last time I checked .....the PSR740's were being sold for around $650.00 US dollars . The PSR1000 is selling for around $900.00
