Yes, it is worth it. Playing full chords with the right hand will give you a fuller, richer sound. Although IMO, it depends on the voice you are using.
Solo instruments, such as flute, trumpet, violin, sax, should be played single fingered. Piano, organ, strings, brass, should be played full chord. For guitar I try to strum the chords from left to right. If only I had more fingers.
