I've been in the business for over 30 years. The problem with these old uprights is that they're by now all in not that great of shape and to fix them would cost a lot more than they are worth.
Also, a student playing one that is not in good shape is not really a great idea for the student's development.
For $200 someone can get a Yamaha PSR-E403 or YPT-400, same instrument. The 403 is for the MI stores and the 400 is for chain department stores, Best Buy etc. This would be a lot better choice in today's age instead of the crummy upright that I started on as a kid that actually hindered my playing.
