Solved this problem 10 years ago when I purhcased 18-inch strips lights and mounted them just above the keyboard. I have a friend who actually mounted his directly on the keyboard. They put out just enough light to clearly see the keyboard's writing and buttons, but not enough to create a glare or be obvious. You will find tham in most hardware stores for about $15 to $20.
