I hate to disappoint you Dave but I believe the reason manufacturers are making more and more Keyboards 'Silver' is because they reflect heat better. Black or darker colors in general tend to 'absorb' heat (from an external source) more. Black or darker colors also tend to 'retain' heat more and to a 'greater' magnitude than Silver or lighter colors do.
And with Processors and other electronic Chips, etc. getting stronger and more powerful, that is only more reason for manufacturers to make Keyboard housings Silver or other heat 'reflective' and 'dissipating' friendly colors. >> To stave off the "HEAT" and keep Keyboards cooler internally.
I am happy to report that my Tyros is 'Silver' on the top part of the housing where direct sunlight or other heat sources would tend to reflect better, thus keeping the Tyros from getting overly hot and stay 'cooler' internally. Also, I am happy to announce that the Tyros has air 'vents' around the top part of the housing around the back of it to allow heat that builds up internally to 'escape'.
Not so unfortunately with the majority of Keyboards Silver OR Black.
You may want Black UD but in actuality you 'need' Silver or some other heat reflective and heat dissipating color so your Axe will last longer for one thing..........

Uh..., forget what I said UD.

The length of time you keep a Board makes my statements irrevalent to your situation anyways.

Best regards,
Mike
