I know the guy this happened to, he told me about it the next day when he was having has van repaired and had the bullet been six inches higher, it would have went through the driver's seat and into his back.
As for the keyboard stopping the slug, this was only part of it. The major slowdown of the bullet was the van's rear door. The keyboard's case wouldn't stop any bullet that can easily penetrate a steel van door--the bullet was pretty much spent at the point it entered the keyboard.
The incident happened on a rural, country road late at night, probably some idiot kid with a rifle. This just demonstrates how much of the world has gone to hell in a handbasket!
