I would wait until after the NAMM winter show in January (music trade show in US) because some new things are coming out (especially Korg) and you want to get the latest, don't you?
The 80's music you like is very synth heavy, so virtual analog keys might complement your arsenal. Maybe Nord Lead, might get a lot of those sounds. But I hear rumblings that Korg may replace the Triton with something based on the Oasys, so maybe it's worth waiting.
In the meantime, crack the manual, and really dig into what the T2 can do. It's pretty powerful if you spend the time to learn how to program it.....
