You are correct those chords voicing do sound hip! I'm sure they will do the jpb for the musician trained in that method. I on the otherhand prefer to play basic chords in my right and compliment them with rootless chords in my right hand comping when I sing. But thats my style of playing, everyone has theirs. Neither is wrong, in the end what ever sounds good is the key. Cant wait to hear you on the SD1 :>)
