I picked up a Peavey Escort system from my dealer and tried it on two occasions. First was in a supper club last weekend, and today I used it for two Nursing Home shows (about 60-70 people each).
I found it to be extremely easy to load, set up and use. It is self-contained and has wheels. The sound is very clean and it covers the complete range of lows, mids and highs.
We did a two-piece show--me on the PSR2000, my partner on fiddle and both on vocals.
I ran my mic through the keyboard in order to use the harmonizer. The other mic and fiddle were through the Escort, and the on-board reverb and e.q. was more than adequate.
The Escort has 5 channels. Three are XLR-capable, one is 1/4-inch stereo and the other RCA stereo in and out.
It has phantom power built in and total set-up time was about 5 minutes.
One thing I missed was the lack of an aux. send/return. I had to run my mic directly into the keyboard.
You can use the RCA stereo channels as a "system" send to a monitor system if necessary.
For small to medium-size jobs, I can recommend this little PA system.
