Just my two cents worth,

Gary

You touched here on one of my biggest gripes about most 'artists' today,Gary.
IMHO , there is far too much use of the mic especially with group acts. It's as if the artist(s) are afraid to expose their real voice. I tell you man it's really painful in the true sense of the word when you cannot 'hear' the voice on account of the decibels.
There is a lot of pleasure in hearing artists with great playing and singing skills who do not use mics at all, or at least only when they are playing to a very large audience.
My wife and I often travel on the Ferry from UK to the Continent on boats which have an intimate small stage and dance area for the artists and are unable to enjoy the cabarets because of the decibels.
And believe it or not the artists even suffer the bizarre sight now of these infernal mics which are attached to their faces.
cheers
