Hi all. I'm looking for a few people to take part in beta testing my Style Manager application and ideally people who have collected a large number of styles and would be willing to take the time to add them to my software. If your interested just let me know by replying. Kind Regards IP: Logged |

:-) You never know. I would hope that everyone can see the benefit of having a single app that allows every community in the world regardless of make and model to share their collections under a single app. Regards IP: Logged |

Hi James: Looks VERY interesting, I finish a while ago, a styles project for Korg, I am interested in becoming a Beta tester for your software, I know what it needs to check in a style, the breakpoints are and also check for the "virtual" CVs on each variations, Kb note range, etc. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hi Guys. I will send out the beta version in a few hours, just want to tidy up a few things that I had found myself that were not working as expected. Thank you to those who submitted styles to me. I'm very grateful, but I'd prefer volunteers to help out in populating the program with styles rather than just sending the styles to me. Kind Regards IP: Logged |

Hi James What does your new software offer which is not found in the software program I currently use? I use PSR Style Database from Peter Wierzba: http://www.wierzba.homepage.t-online.de/psd/psdmain.htm Kind regards IP: Logged |

Hello. That “PSR Style Database” looks like a very nice program, but it's very different from what I'm developing. For starters it's not a database program at all, each time you launch it you have to get it to view the contents of the folders where you keep your styles so it can extract the names from there each time you launch the software. This approach is quick for sure if all your looking for is a list of what styles you have, but it also means the program only works with PSR Styles and it's not designed for any community based file sharing projects. It's more for personal use. The concept behind my program is very different in that I'm hoping to see this become a universal tool that allows all the different communities to pool their efforts together and file share. It's a single application that everyone can use regardless of what keyboard they own, or what company it's made by. When a style is added to my software the actual file itself is stored within the program including all the information put in by the person who added the style. This in turn means that a single file can contain a users entire collection. Add to that the fact that I can post update patches, then if people submit their files, a single update patch can be issued that can update everyones program to include the content of everyone else. In short, pooling everyone efforts into a single update that anyone can download and benefit from. It's not meant to complete with websites already offering large downloads, it's simply meant to be a tool that will allow everyone to pool their efforts together and to create the ultimate collection of styles regardless of make or model. Hi James Thanks for the explanation. I was not able to see from the screenshot that the program was a "community" software. But I noticed that it can handle styles from more keyboard manufacturers. Best wishes IP: Logged |

Hi Jørgen. If you click here you can see a copy of the video I sent to the beta testers. It's just an quick crash course to get the beta testers up and running with the software, so nothing fancy. The plan right now is to get the program out of beta and released with a certain amount of content already included. The main database folders will be read only to end users, but the other folders will be read & write. People can then start using it to organise their own personal collections of styles while also availing of anything already included in the main database. Then maybe 8 weeks after the release date I'll activate an FTP for people to submit their databases to. All submitted databases will then be merged into into one single update patch that anyone can download. Running this update patch when then update your main database folder giving you instant access to the combined efforts of everyone who added content to the application and submitted their file. Batch conversion of the data included will also take place in the future, so styles added in one format will make their way into the database in many different formats. Regards IP: Logged |

Sorry, James, but I will have to wait until you bring out a Mac version (and no, I'm NOT going to run Winblows on my Mac just to try it ).Love to see one, though... IP: Logged |

Hi Guys. Could anyone who has been beta testing this program please stop now and send me back the “style-manager.bbd” file if you have added content to the program. I've also not heard from a few of you, so I take it that's a good thing and you haven't found any issues. What issues were reported to me have all been fixed now and I'm ready to test the next version of the program now which is the version I plan on releasing to the public. I want to start using the new import & export functions to merge all the content you guys added into one large database which will be included with the program on it's release. This function will be what people use to share databases with other in order to build up their own library of styles. So if you could send me in your files and if you have any final thoughts or features you could see being useful, please do so no. Regards IP: Logged |

Hi all Sorry for the delay, but the good news is Style Manager Universal will be released tomorrow. Here's a streaming video of the Sync functions. This is what you will be using to import styles from another users database. http://www.irishacts.com/style-manager/style-sync.htm Kind Regards IP: Logged |
