I thought so too. But I reinstalled Quicktime and got the video. Nice machine, the Tyros 2, but Peter, the player, is brilliant. Realistically I can never get the Tyros 2 to sound like he can make it, but I can dream!

Graham,

It is a movie. I also had to get the latest free quick time revision to view it. The latest release is only supported on Windows XP or win 2000. It would not play the video on my second system which has Win Millenium.

Peter is awesome on the keyboard. I got so many new ideas from the streaming movie which seems to run for an hour. These movies always stimulate my creativity. I will never play like Peter, but I sure improve after learning from these clips.

Peter makes the Tyros sound like the best keyboard ever made.

Regards,

Jerry

Yes you must have Quicktime installed.

If anyone hasn't heard this demo yet, you MUST download it NOW!!!!
Peter Baartmans has long been a hero of mine, but in this demo he excels even himself!!! Peter should be given the ultimate accolade from the Music Industry because he is the all-time greatest exponent of the keyboard without exception.
On this demo you have not only the ultimate demonstration of the Tyros 2 capabilities but an extremely accomplished hour or more of pure entertainment from a master of music. He plays absolutely all styles and all genres of music direct from his enormous repertoire. He should be awarded the Nobel Prize for Music!!!!
I suggest that you click on the link as soon as possible because I assume that the company PIENS will not allow us to hear this forever. It is protected from download so you can only click on the website link and listen to this wonderful entertainment in real time, no saving!!!!
cheers

Jerryghr. Thankyou. Yes I have just updated my Quicktime version.
I have seen Peter Baartmans many time live and apart from being a brilliant player he is also very funny.

Took me a while to get the appropriate version of Quicktime loaded (and then de-installing i-tunes) but it was worth it.

He's a bit good, isn't he.

The keyboard's not half bad either (but I knew that anyway!)

Our friends in the Netherlands have a couple of REALLY good treats coming up next week.

Baartmans & Voncken, together with the Tyros2
and then
Leon Kuypers (day or 2 later) on the G70.

Their demo/performance schedules: http://www.tyros2.nl/index.asp?p=224

If anyone is planning on attending, please drop by my place on the way and pick me up

Seriously though, I hope those performances become available on video. I'd love to see that.

Impuls, can you get over there and tape that for us?

Hi KN Fan
I think that your PC setup is just unfortunately one of those which will not accept this software fully. We have to remember that Quicktime and the files .mov are designed for APPLE and there are certain aspects of Windows it does not like!
For example, it will only play on Windows XP and 2000 (and then not on all of them, depending on other setups you have on your PC).
Ihave been able to get the movie from the start but not without 'tweaking' one or two knobs here and there! Sorry, I don't know what it was I did, but it worked.
All I can suggest is that you don't give up at the first try and perhaps your PC will behave itself eventually As you may have guessed from the rave reviews, it is certainly worth spending some time trying to get the movie.
cheers

I wonder if some of you who say you cannot get the movie have given it time to download?
The movie is streamed and needs time to sort itself.#There are times when even my own setup does not get the movie sraight away and I have to wait several minutes before it 'fires up'.
I hope that you are not being impatient!

I starts then the sound stops and the video gets all scrambled. I have walked away for an hour thinking I may have to let it download. I have cable internet.
I tried the new one and it did the same thing. Thanks for trying, I have never had this problem with all the demos and movies and cartoons.

Has anyone any suggestions? I downloaded the latest version of Quicktime in order to watch and listen to Peter Baartman's T2 Movie, but when I open Quicktime and try to play any audio files, it sounds like they are playing underwater with excessive reverb!! Windows Media works perfectly with no problems. I have a fairly new system running XP with 512MB RAM, and would appreciate any help.

You can try messing with Quicktime's setings under edit/preferences. Also try closing all processes that might be using/clogging your internet connection. It's also possible that Piens doesn't have a big enough bandwith or fast enough connection.
I'm no expert in computers, but noticed that after the first song is over and all those colored lights stop turning on and off the video and audio stabilized and everything went smoothly, so I don' know if that has anything to do with the problem. Anyone noticed that?
Anyway I hope that helps.
Good luck and keep trying cause it's worth the effort.

I've tried several times to get it. I can hear the music, but no video. It keeps telling me I need to install the plugin, but then says it isn't available. I've updated QT, but still no video.

Not sure, but i think it uses the xvid codec. Google it and install it. It might work. I got the same message once, but don't remember if that did the trick.

I HATE QUICKTIME !

I have Windows XP SP2
Broadband Cable
The latest QT player.

Baatman's video never played, after waiting 7 minutes.
Vonkon's video, sort of played, but it was choppy and annoying.

I tried right clicking and saving, but of course I was not allowed. "No such Interface Supported"

I don't know why anyone would use Quicktime It's an annoying, intrusive application, that adds itself to your start menue, and forces you to use QT format. And the latest version adds I-Tunes to the download. I don't want I-Tunes. Stop force feeding the users!

Quicktime has now taken over the lead as the most annoying player on my list, surpassing Real. Real is now much more stable, while QT is just bad. I heard there is an alternative player that will play Quicktime formats, without the hassles. I'll have to check that out.

Anyway, it's a shame, as the video posted by Jerry looks to be promising. Now if it would only work.

I'll try again later, because as you can tell, I'm getting frustrated. Sorry, but I needed to vent.

Eddie,

Your Baartman's Video Link worked great.

I wonder if you can do the same magic with Vonckon's video.

I don't know how you made it work, but thanks!

(Oh yes, the video demo is awesome).

Still doesn't work for me. I did get to watch (with sound) about a quarter of the demo before. The problem started when I tried to fast forward the demo. I have been having problem since then. I tried cleaning up my RAM, (have 512MB) but still the same.

Oh well. I want to think it's more of their server's problem due to streaming audio/video..they really need a good and fast server since more and more people coming to their website to view the demo? Then again I don't know much about the technicality of broadband internet so I might be wrong.

Hi Larry
I am glad that you were finaly able to get to hear and see Peter Baartmans genius.
As for the Michel Voncken demo , I thought that you had already succeeded because in topic 012303 you told us about it!
I downloaded the Michel demo onto my desktop and then found it wouldn't play in Windows Media Player, so I tried it in Winamp and it worked perfectly! It is about 56MB and plays for about 12 minutes. It's good, but not nearly as good as Peter Baartmans.
By the way, for those who have not yet succeeded, you have to know that Peter speaks in Dutch and Michel speaks in German. But what the heck!,their playing makes up for it
By the way , I have put a link to Peter's demo on my webpage (which links directly to the movie on my FTP). Whether it will work for others though still depends on whether it behaves for them

cheers

Hello to all,

The connection is very difficult. Though the access is limited, is there a way to download / save it on the HD so that everyone can see this impressive video in the best conditions ?

Thanks

Hi Bruno
No. I don't think so
This is what I hoped would happen with the link I provide on my website but it doesn't always work
I think the time has come for someone to have a word with Piens MusicPlanet about the link and I will do that today.
cheers
Eddie
Later: I have just spoken to Piens.
The nice young lady said that today is only skeleton staff because of holidays but she will ask someone to get in touch with me by telephone. So I hope that soon we will have some better connections
cheers

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html

Just for the info, I installed this version of Quiktime (link above)and now the demo runs perfectly.

If you are familiar with Windows media encoder then you can record the demo with it from the window it plays in.

WME is free to download from: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp and choose Windows Media Encoder.

Hope it helps for someone.....

Hi Jacky,

I tried, but, as Eddie, I don't get any better connection.

I understand how to record the sound of the demo (when connection will be OK..), but not the video. Can WM Encoder record a streamed video ?

This one seems hard to get. I usually have no problem to download that kind of video using Net transport or Stream Down, but here, I only get errors (respectively "Not enough Bandwidth" and "Shake Hands Error").

The "real" link is this one I believe :

rtsp://195.207.143.99:7070/Tyros2_baartmans.mov

Maybe a specialist can help ?

Ok, I was able to download Peter Baartman's T2 .Mov file here:

http://rapidshare.de/files/9088048/Tyros2_baartmans.mov.html

but when I attempt to play it in Quicktime Player 7.03 PRO, only the audio is heard (no video displayed). Strange because the size of the file is over 60MB. It certainly would be nice to watch the video along with the audio heard. Anybody know what the problem might be?

Have used your link Bruno. Just changed the RTSP to HTTP and i could see the movie directly. I have sampled the audio only. About 115MB MP3 file. Little bit from the beginning is missing becouse of starting recording. So if you want it you can at least hear it ok. Let me know....

Thanks for your kind proposition Jacky. But I downloaded the file Scottyee mentionned (thanks !) and it does have the audio section.

I'm afraid there's no way to have the video along. The file is 60 MB for a running time of more than 1:40 so no way to have the video included (with a minimum quality)

We'll need to convince Piens to release a downloadable version.. But we got the main part, didn't we ?

Scottyee, do you have the same rapidshare link for Michel Vonken's demo ?
