Hi, I was away from my computer for a while, so I hadn't seen the great work of Jacky-D and Scottyee to let us download the Piens demos. Thanks, guys ! But I could only download M. Voncken's demo through rapidshare. I don't have Newsleechers. Jacky, could you upload P. Baartmans's demo the same way that you did for M. Voncken's If not, what is the procedure ? Thanks, Bruno IP: Logged |

Anyone into hearing some nice swingy and jazzy songs from Peter Baartmans, I stroungly recommend seeing the videos of the CVP and CLP digital pianos. He sure knows how to pack a punch out of them! JackyD I don't have any current Internet Direct Connection. Not really a pity, however, as I download most songs in midi format from Internet and transfer to PSR via MusicSoft Downloader (available for free download from Yamaha's website). Btw I'm planning to check out the T2 at my local Yamaha dealer tomorrow ------------------ IP: Logged |

Had to cancel the appoinment with T2 ![]() Hope I can go someday next week I have to admit that those 2 videos at piens.com really inspired me into learning new techniques to play instruments - the organs section particularly, and also a lot of wind instruments and guitars Sincerely ------------------ IP: Logged |

Thanks once again to Jacky-D for Peter Baartmans's demo ! (BTW : what is the difference between the 3 files ?) Many of us have been impressed / inspired by these videos. Unfortunately we don't have the midifiles, which would have been great.. Maybe top talented members could try to play some of the songs and upload midifiles (not note for note transcriptions, but general ideas on how to play the demos ). What do you think ?

It is a good idea but it has a drawback: Most of Peter Baartmans' and Michel Voncken's songs use styles that are exclusively in T2 only, which means that a simple song will take a lot of time to play as MIDI as drum patterns and phrases have to be recorded manually. Remember that the big showcase of T2 is the huge style repertoire, and obviously in the demo these new styles will be played to give an idea of their quality. Still a good idea, and spending some time with the songs is worth it - i simply get inspired to learn those songs just by hearing the T2 demos of them (and that includes oldies back to 50 and 60s) I will upload some songs asap (i have voncken's musette in particular even if it may sound a bit different). jxuereb ------------------ [This message has been edited by jxuereb (edited 01-14-2006).] IP: Logged |

The idea was precisely for T2 owners, using its internal styles. The transcription would help - to have the chord sequence and the best style for a specific song. - to use break / fills / variations in the best way - to learn tips on how to play the different voices T2 can offer (guitar..) I also tried to figure out Voncken's musette (the short piece he played in the official demo. If anyone knows the title ?) I just have the correct chord sequence and the original melody but no flourishes yet (I'm not able to make it sound like him ;-( Bruno IP: Logged |

quote: The musette of voncken's official demo is available in a whole 2-minute song in the deinze demo which i have just learnt. It cost me a lot of time slow-playing the song and repeating playback, but it was worth the hassle. Thanks Michel! I will try to upload a MIDI version (including the recorded FrenchMusette style as MIDI notes) as soon as possible. Any suggestions where to put the file are gratefully appreciated. jxuereb ------------------ IP: Logged |

just recorded voncken's musette ![]() allright it has a little silly mistakes but i believe it is passable the only trouble is now where to upload - any tips? Btw i am currently improving the current version and practising so as not to make mistakes in my next recording (i could easily edit the notes with a MIDI sequencer but that makes no sense to me - for performance, the important is PLAYING it right, not MAKING IT SOUND right) jxuereb ------------------ IP: Logged |

Recently I visited a demo with Baartmans and Voncken, together this time. It was great. I was very impressed with the sounds of T2 and - different than with T1 - the demo's don't do the T2 justice. Espescially Peter Baartmans impressed me, because he is a very jazzy player. He is funny too. Voncken is a terrific player too, but Baartmans plays more freely and is very creative. He plays the music I like to play too. Voncken is a very skilled arranger player and while playing he changed settings very quickly. I really would like to own such a great instrument as the T2 - but I am afraid I have to wait for the PSR3100 .... moneywise ![]() [This message has been edited by drdalet (edited 01-26-2006).] IP: Logged |

Personally I do not believe that being able to change settings of a keyboard while playing makes you a good musician - not that Voncken isn't, because he is great. I have now downloaded both Deinze demos and watched them. I still believe that Baartmans is the man for music - name a style, he'll play it, and that goes for his techniques too (Louis Armstrong's "When The Saints", anybody? That's some great B3 hammond technique you're missing). Voncken does that too, and I must admit that I think very highly of him, he is great (shame he didn't get the same feedback as Baartmans in Deinze), but I find him quite rigid when it comes to chord adapting. Notice in the demos how Baartmans changes chords, even the jazzy styles that come in full harmonic progressions. As regards to the T2, Baartmans remains the man. He uses Super Articulation technology so well you'll bet both hands (even if that leaves you incapable of playing music) that it's the real saxophone that you're hearing, it's the real guitar (Asturias...).... Btw, regarding Voncken's musette... I am improving the current version which I have uploaded (I have finally memorised the whole melodic progression) and am looking forward to some free time when I can record the improved version. I'll keep posting on improvements. Also, while watching Baartmans, I suddenly got this craving sensation to play "American Patrol" by Glen Miller. Very nice, awesome I would say, as big band styles involve very rapid chord progression (both harmonic and melodic), but it will take its time to get in my mind. ------------------ [This message has been edited by jxuereb (edited 01-28-2006).] IP: Logged |

Today I visited my Yamaha dealer to check again on Tyros 2. I was disappointed, as there were none in stock. I asked for Tyros 1 also, but apart from finding none, I came to find out that Yamaha stopped shipping them. Can anyone confirm this rumour? In the end, I spent about an hour checking out the PSR-3000. I found it quite nice (nothing on T2, of course). Regarding the MegaVoices, I believe that they can be quite playable with a little practice (the 12StringGuitar in particular has only 2 main velocity changes, both of which are playable). In fact, I believe that the effects for the guitars are available only in the highest 2 octaves for some guitars. The Super Articulation may, therefore, be considered a MegaVoice if we understand it by velocity-switching layers (check out Voncken's demo of these voices for yourselves). Don't get me wrong, however. Some MegaVoices have as much as 7 velocity layers, and they are quite shuffled in their placement, unlike Super Articulation voices. I have been told that the Tyros 2 will be in stock in about 2 weeks' time. Hopefully I will be able to check it out. I'll send feedback with my personal reactions as soon as possible. ------------------ [This message has been edited by jxuereb (edited 02-13-2006).] IP: Logged |
