Silva, the RD 700 SX is an excellent digital piano, but it's just that, meaning that all the other instruments (like guitars, organs, strings, etc) are nothing special. It can be used as a master keyboard (up to four zones with different settings) and can store registrations, but doesn't have aftertouch. The Nord Stage Piano looks very promising on paper: Clavia has a reputation for its excellent electric pianos and Hammond sounds, and the Stage Piano will have also a good acoustic piano (the weak point of other Clavia models). Only problem is: it's not on the market yet and the estimed release date is between October and December. Imho the RD 700 SX is the best digital piano in the market. It is made to be a digital piano, so no wonder if the other sounds aren't as special as the piano sounds. Anyway you could find the special sounds that you need on the several SRX expansions that can be added to the RD. IP: Logged |

In some cases it seems indeed that Yamaha ended supporting some products (the case of the 9000 Pro, for example), but that happened way after 6 months the product was released. Anyway the technology used in arrangers has a certain "validity time limit" (they become obsolete after a certain time), but I believe this obsolescence period is larger than the period during which we normally keep a keyboard (we do like new toys a lot, but do they make our music better?). And the fact that "Valentim de Carvalho" lost the Yamaha distribution in Portugal some years ago, making the distribution unique for the whole iberian peninsula doesn't really influence my choice too much. Madrid is closer to where I am than Lisbon! I never had to use Yamaha support, but I visited Yamaha-Spain once (Hazen Música in Madrid) and I kept an excellent impression of them. In other words I would not rule out Yamaha on the basis of an "uncertain support"... Um abraço, -- José. IP: Logged |

Looks like it's possible to buy (or at least pre-order) a Clavia Nord Stage here I agree with Paul Davis that, if one is looking mainly for acoustic piano sounds, the Promegas can be a better option (and a cheaper one too...) IP: Logged |

Yeap, that's what the experts say. The Promegas use physical modeling, all the others are sample players. This results in a better connection between notes and an improved musical expressivity. -- José. IP: Logged |
