How would I hook up the QY-100 to my PSR-550? Would I need to hook up cables to both the midi in and out on both units? I would assume that since using the 550 as a controller that I'd only need to hook up the midi out of the 550 to the midi in on the QY... Am I correct with that? Squeak IP: Logged |

quote: Hi Squeak. Yep, if you only need to utilize the QY-100 as a sound module and the PSR550 as the master KB controller, then you only need one midi cable: connecting it from the midi out of the PSR550 to the midi in of the QY-100.
quote: YES, just remember to set the midi 'send' channel(s) on the PSR500 to the same channel as the midi 'receive' channel on the QY100. Scott IP: Logged |

Cool... So this means that I can use the 550 as a master controller and use the 550's keybed to input note data into the QY-100 instead of having to use the QY's small keys? I think I read somewhere that you could use a midi keyboard to record parts into the QY... Squeak IP: Logged |

Good luck Squeak. I had a QY100 and found it very cumbersome. Maybe using the 550 keyboard will help; I didn't hook mine up like that or for that reason. Be careful, the QY reads, plays and saves midi files as type '0' not type '1'. That can be a pain, esp. if you are hoping to fill your memory with files made elsewhere. IP: Logged |
