I'm having many problems with my new Audya not the least of which is not being able to or knowing how to save a second voice for a particular registration. I am a long time Yamaha user (now Tyros 3) and am finding it very difficult to navigate the Audya compared to what i'm used to. I find the manual about as vague as it could be. I'm glad I haven't sold my T3 yet because I may go back to using it full time. HELP!!!!

unionguy,

i don't know the answer to your question,
but since you own both the Tyros3 and AUDYA,

i was wondering what your honest opinion is between these 2, in particular the DRUMS.

you play out?
was wondering which sound best to YOU on a good PA

thanks for taking the time.

Hey leezone, Just to let you know from a person who has owned every arranger keyboard on the planet, and has logged too many nights doing live performances, there is a major difference between the T3 and Audya. The Tyros 3 is a refined instrument that plays MIDI files infinately better than any other keyboard out there and it's SA2 voices are extremely impressive. Having said that, my opinion of the Audya is radically differnt. If your looking for the rough unpolished sound of a real band then Audya is what you want. The drums are real and I mean real. The voices really sound like their being played in a live stage situation. For me, too hard to program compared to Yamaha products but none the less a great keyboard. It's what you find more important at a performance.

I'm new to the Audya, so there are probably other ways of doing this. But I make my own programs to go with my regs.
Press programbutton and second voice button on- go to the sound you want, press edit- in the page that shows, press- second voice 1 -(user 2/7) here you can select the sound- effect- volume, etc. for the second voice F10=controls= portamento, aftertouch, expression, etc. when done, save it with a new name or as it is.

In the AUDYA, the 2nd voice is not directly associated with the REGISTER but the lead voice. When you call up a lead voice, it (by default) has a 2nd voice. You can go through and for every lead voice, associate a 2nd voice with/to it. When done, simply SAVE the 2nd voice file (which remembers which 2nd voice to associate with which lead voice.

Now, when using REGISTRATIONS, you simply save the register with the lead voice you want to use (the associated 2nd voice is displayed below the lead voice). When you press the 2nd voice, it turns ON the 2nd voice you saved with it.

Hope this clarifies this.

Thanks,

AJ

Hey AJ, Thanks for the tip but someone else may be able to use it. I returned the Audya a couple of weeks ago and have no plans to buy another one in the near future mostly because it looks like the OS is a long way from being fixed. Thanks, Ron.
