16B-200pattns-A.syx

These patterns are really basic ryhtms,
coming from the the book
"200 Drum Patterns" by Rene-Pierre Bardet
(Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation, 1985).
(That's even before the first HR-16 was born, isn't it?)

I entered them manually into my Alesis HR-16:B,
from the printed grids.
In this book, each page is printed with 3 grids,
corresponding to the rythm, a variation and a break.
They are supposed to be combined together.
In respect of this book, I programmed them the same way,
so they come by groups of three patterns.

As the author himself states in the introduction to his book,
"... this not only gives you immediate results with
 popular contemporary patterns, but also provides you with
 material that you can modify to your taste, and serves as a
 stepping stone to programming patterns of your own.

... Since this book is designed to guide your first steps
 in programming your drum machine, the patterns have been kept
 as simple as possible..."

It's not a lie: these patterns are simple, basic, ...
Most of the time, they only need 
bass drum, snare drum, hi-hat and toms.
More, they don't cover all the possible known rythms:
no march, no waltz,... 
...but the author loves (or is inspired by) Funk !!!
You surely don't need them if you're used to program your machine.
