Greetings!

Any recommendations for a Yamaha style for this Elvis song? It would be nice to have a variation that has the accents on the verse.

Thanks!

Sorry to be so long getting to this, Paul. Just use the slow blues style, "C" variation, tempo of 90. For the initial part of the song hold down the break key and sing:

Well, since my baby left me
Well, I found a new place to dwell
Well, it's down at the end of Lonely Street
At Heartbreak Hotel

At this point release the break key and sing:

Where I'll be--where I get so lonely, baby
Well, I'm so lonely
I get so lonely, I could die

Repeat the process throughout the song and use the short ending.

Hey Gary, I had been performing it exactly as you suggested and while yes, it works, the accents/stop time/break are not like the original. To me those accents are sort of iconic but probably your average person wouldn't notice the difference...

Phillip, thanks for the style however it sounds nothing like the Heart Break Hotel I'm familiar with. The style that you posted sounds like a fast C&W train beat not a slow 12/8 blues. Good style though, that I'm sure I'll be using for a different tune.

Montunoman....
If you are using a yammie, instead of using the break, set the kb fingering mode to "Fingered". (Function>split point/chord fingering)
Save to the registration. Then when you want the break, press any 3 consecutive notes in your left hand to mute all but drums.

OK Eddie, Your method works a bit better. That way I just manually play the accents with a RH organ sound while the drums are keeping time. Still not quite the effect I was wanting but a lot closer.... Of course auto accompaniment does have its limitations!
