Hello:
Any comments on the PX-400R?
Anyone know where it's made?

Thanks,
Ian

Hi. I got one about a month ago. It's the same basic board as the other Casio Privia's but with more features, sounds, etc. Don't expect too much from the other sounds. I like it, and at a bargain price (about $500 here in Japan) the only thing close was the Yamaha P-60. The P-60 is reputed to have a better piano feel and piano sound if that is the most important thing to you. But, it has few other features.

Bad news: the pX-400r does not have a usb driver for Mac.

That was an online price. It's selling for closer to $700 in the stores here in Japan.

Mine says "made in China" by the way.

So far, I like it a lot.

I bought a PXR-400 in December. NOt a bad piano for the price at all. I traded in a Yamaha DGX505 for the Casio. I liked the feel of the action of the Casio. At home I play a Clavinova CVP 107 which I would really like to be able to take on on gigs. It's just too hard to move around. The fact that I can play the Casio as a piano or use it's arranger keyboard features was a plus. I like the sound of the Octave Jazz Guitar and the Organs. But many of the brass, reed or pipe instruments aren't that great soudning at all.

Sam's in WI has the 400r kit for 600 bucks. I bought a 555r kit for $500 (USD) from Sam's in Green Bay WI. Still can't tell the difference between the two. I own a 100r and don't know if the 555r is worth the price differential. I paid about $300 for the 100r a year ago at sam's.

Best,

I've had this piano over 8 months now (for an absolute BARGAIN brand new!) and I love it!! It's the perfect companion to my WK3000. Just a pity that you can't load extra user tones like you can with the WK3000, but then you can't have everything, and I use piano 99% of the time anyway.

The new PX 700R looks great too, especially as it retails for the same price and features 3 fixed pedals, but I don't believe it has the USB, Smart Card capability, nor line (mic) input (a feature I particularly like as I'm currently learning "Play Piano with Keane" and I can feed the backing track in via this) of the 400. All in all, I think I got the best piano for my needs and within my budget! Well done Casio yet again!!
