MS OS - a new postitive discovery - 05/15/10 02:20 PM

I just discovered another aspect that convinces me this OS is so stable...

I accidentally left the screen setting at 1680x1050 (my external screen res) when I turned off last night.

I booted the MS this morning, and apart from all the screens being smaller, the MS and Kubuntu system had NO issues at all

In the old days it would have crashed the xorg server. All I did was reset back to 800x600 , re-booted back to normal.

So I guess IF you can work with the even smaller windows with a higher res, it does not cause any de-stabilisation, so if we forget ( as I do often ) to change things back to standard, no problems.

Bravo Dom and Lions Tracs....Great work.

And just by way of a further expanation of why this is good.

In the past if you accidentally had thewrong screen config with the xorg server, the system kept crashing (well for me it did) without even let you boot back in to change it.
It had to be a re-instal of the OS.

At least now it at least boots so it can be edited back to the required res without the need to re-instal the OS to get back the default xorg config file.

Anyway just thought I would mention it

Thanks for that, it's nice to know.
I have yet to even try an external monitor but it is something I will be doing and likely always doing in the future.
