Fatar tp10 - Q for Dom

Fatar tp10 - Q for Dom - 05/05/10 02:13 PM

Dom,

I was wondering if the Fatar TP10 76 note version of the fully weighted keybed would fit into the MS I have?

If so, can you get one and how much would it cost?

Thanks,
Dennis

Dom, even if you can just tell me if it fits would be okay. I can always source it and buy myself...

Its just you have all the hardware specs, IE chassis mounting points, keybed location dimension, cabling needs etc.....

So only you can answer, and I don't want to buy it if it doesn't fit...

I have fully renovated several Korg keyboards, stripped to the basic shell and rebuilt

I have also modified an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 weighted keybaord down to a 73 note version, so installing a new keybed into the MS should not be too much of a challenge

Hi Dennis.

From a pure case design point it would never work.
See here.....

VS

The Synth keys overhang the underneath of the keyboards case, where the weighted keys have no overhang at all so to install them you would have to actually cut the sheet metal of the keyboard case.

Thanks guys, I was already aware I would have to do some engineering along the front.

I was more checking the MB/DB connections, and mounting points (underneath) issues, if any.

But I appreciate your replies nonetheless

yes, you right.

but i mean the MS bottom case.

Look at your MS bottom case and the MS x-88 bottom case.

if you like to use a 76 key version of MS X-88 version keybed it will not fit in your bottom case. you need to make your bottom case like MS X-88 first.

Thanks AFG, but I do (did) realise all of that

You don't read all of my previous posts do you

I have engineered and modified several keyboards, even changing an 88 note Keystation to a 73 note model I should post some pics one day...Not to mention several Korg keyboards I rescued and re-furbished...

Usually with manufacturers, especially 3rd party ones like Fatar who make generic keybeds for many keyboard companies, follow certain design principles through an entire range, example - the spacing of mounting points, and even the shape and design of the underlying steel chassis. Called "Economy of Design".

Now if the mounting points of the Fatar 76 note weighted keybed, match those of the TP8 keybed and the cabling is the same, then not TOO many problems...if not well then thats not a problem either. I won't worry about it.

In any case it's only a distant operation in my mind now. I am only asking IF its possible NOT that I am starting it now

Its very difficult, if not impossible, to tell the spacing of the mount points from pictures, as they need to be millimetre perfect. And different angles of photography can give distorted views of this.

Only the actual engineering specs will give the exact positions.

I have read your posts, with your experience is sure to do.

but why you do not place your fatar keybed in one homemade aluminum case with a midi or usb controller board. in this way you only need one usb or midi cabel. or why not buy a piano midi controller like this one:

I would love the Studiologic VMK 176 (as pictured), but they cannot be imported into Australia as yet.

Something to do with the Australian Design Rules, and the fact it does not meet a couple of them

Midem
forget to install the big Piano keys, can NEVER fit on the MS X76 models.
The Piano keys are about double size deepth, need to develope again the Case.

Let we see how sell the new Groove and then for october/November I will release the new MS MK II, with the all new hardware
