Backing Sequence --> Midi

Backing Sequence --> Midi - 06/27/01 10:15 AM

Hi,

I have a problem that I would like to solve.

I compose a music in Backing Sequence. When I record it to midi file, music loses all the effects with which I played. Why? How to keep these effects (Chorus, reverb)?

Thank you in advance.

djan.

Hi Djan,

All you have to do is make a SYSEX dump before you actually record the music.
E.g. record the SYSEX from your synth into measure 1-3 and start recording music from measurenr. 4.
Your manual tells you how to start a manual sysex.
Most of the time you can find me on the general arranger keyboard forum.

Thanks to your answer Roel.

But what is a sysex? I use a Korg i30 for my backing sequences.

Thanks.

Hi
Sysex stands for System Exclusive messages. They are little lines of code numbers that can be inserted into a MIDI file & sent to the keyboard to set it up a certain way before the MIDI song starts playing. Every different keyboard/module manufacturer has different code numbers to accomplish the same thing - such as set the reverb. That is why they are called System Exclusive. If you look in your i30 Owner Manual, usually at the very back, there will be a list of all these Sysex messages, and what they do. I will leave it to another to explain how to get the Sysex codes into measures 1-3 of your MIDI file.
