ROLAND MC-500MKII QUESTION

Do I need a system disk to boot up if I already have disks with sequenced songs from the MC500 on it?

Hi There

I seem to remember, the last time I used it, that I needed to boot up with the factory software (I think this was version 2?) in order for the MC 500 to have enhanced functions, but it's such a long time ago, that I'm not totally sure.
