S2000 crash

I own an akai S2000 and which occasionaly "crashed" when moving though the "edit sample" screens on the front LCD ,has anyone else had this problem? .This results in having to switch the machine off and on again to reset,resulting in losing any work which i have not yet backed to disk.
I am using the version 2.0 system disk when "booting up",is there a newer disk?
