Have to agree with you. I have a Tyros 5 and I believe the strings on the T4 are the same. Sometimes they even hurt my ears because they sound very screechy.
I am fortunate enough to have a T5 and a Ketron SD7 and the strings on the SD7 are really easy to listen to so I use the SD7 for many of the lead instruments.
