NEW TOP MODEL ARRANGER - G-70

AT LAST

Roland has realeased a new top-end arranger, the G-70.

Amongst other goodies, it has:
- 76 keys
- lots of physical buttons
- separate button banks for performances,
styles, and tone selections
- a full colour touch screen as well
- physical organ drawbars
- a proper vocal harmonizer

It seems that Roland DOES listen, after all....

Perhaps interest will now return to this particular bulletin board, instead of Roland stuff only appearring within the "General Arranger" board.

the most companies doesn't sell an arranger without keys. :-(
Well, the discover is available without keys, but 1st it's a MIDI file player keyboard and 2nd, they did this for Karaoke or for singers.

The PA1X took its place.

That is very sad news indeed. I was really hoping that Roland had got this one right after the very poor effort that the VA series represents (I own a VA-76. In most respects, it's crap).

Whilst I will still give the G-70 a good checkout, as soon as the local dealer has one to try, your early findings are not encouraging.

The first ominous sign for me was the lack of 6 buttons to manually trigger the 6 fills they boast about. Rather than do the obvious, they seem to have - yet again - made a simple thing difficult.

Your description of the sounds and styles in one of your other posts suggests that the instrument is too similar to the VA for comfort - and that instrument sounds like something costing £500 from about 10 years ago. Not good.

As another act of stupidity, I notice that the G-70 is one inch bigger all round than the already bulky VA-76. So it won't fit the same flight case. Dumb, or what?

it's not unusual that the next model will have a different size. Yamaha users, exchanging the PSR 9000 by Tyros can't use the old case, the same as Korg users.
About gig bags, no problem. The same gig bag fits with Yamaha 9000 pro, G 1000, VA 76 and G 70.
Possibly the customers will understand the G 70 as a better "V-Combo" and use it in a band.
If I had the money, I would combine G70 with Yamaha Tyros and the G70 styles use only, when I don't find a satisfying Yamaha style (because there are many Yamaha 4 variation styles available and no Roland 4 variation styles).

Roand came out with a reedless accordion,but what happened to the arranger modules like the ra800. Does anyone know if Roland will come out with a new arranger module(possibly with the features like their new keyboard),that accordion players can use? I'm still using the ra800.

John, I think you, Don Mason, Scott Yee and myself, were the only people to buy an RA800...maybe they needed more sales to continue the module...[You will see one in the future]..

if Yamaha would offer a non key version of Tyros, so we could use the G70 together with the Yamaha sounds and styles. But they have the need to sell keys.
Pretty tough, if you want all the features of Korg PA1x, Tyros and Roland G70, you have to use 3 keyboards!

anyone knows when the G70 is gonna be released in the USA?

Would love to find a place to mess with it for a few hours

Roland will introduce the G70 on January 20 at the NAMM show in California. I would assume release date to the stores will follow shortly after the show.
