Good read. Too bad many don't realize all you can do with an Arranger.

Thank you, guys.

I like arranger keyboards but my preference will always be the organ. They are similar in many ways but also very different in many ways.

I just started to learn to play the alto sax as a New Years challenge for myself . I have to tell you I am having a blast and really enjoying learning this fabulous instrument.

I have been making backing tracks to play sax over on my korg pa4x .

This is where there arranger keyboard has no equal in making fast rough drafts .

For example last night I produced a track called “ can you stand the rain “ by New Edition ( an 80’s RnB group ) . It took me 10 minutes to listen to the original recording and work out the chord progressions. It took another 10 minutes to select an appropriate style and play it all in one take including fills and variations using quick record .

Then another 20 minutes to overdub the bass line and add strings and additional sounds to complete the job.

So it took Les than an hour including learning the song chord progressions to make a pretty decent backing track .

Now how long it will take me to learn to blow the melody on my sax is a whole different ball game 🤣🤣🤣
