HAPPY TO HAVE WHAT I GOT. - 05/19/20 04:35 AM

I got the best feeling the other day. The mail came and a catalog from my favorite music store was in it. I picked it up and looked through it,then it hit me. There is nothing in this book that I need or want. All my stuff is the best for my needs and I wouldn't trade any of it.It is is a very nice feeling.Comforting in a way that unless something breaks, I won't be buying and equipment or do I want any. I'M SET.

Mel
I had the same feeling when looking for the worst that could happen in this environment, except coming down with the virus. Since I have time on my hands,I thought of what I lacked for an extended hiatus. I,too, went through my music catalogs and found nothing I wanted, much less needed. I mentioned this to my wife and she burst out laughing. What a strange reaction.

Mel,

Good post and I share your thoughts, I have everything I need and won't be buying anymore equipment.

I've always been pretty much happy with my gear. Played the 2000 forever, then went to the 3000 because of the added styles and improved sounds. It was a real workhorse of a keyboard and never failed me, though back then I always purchased a spare. The 3000 spare was never used on the job in a decade of use. When I purchased the S-950, I did so for a number of reasons, mainly because of the onboard USB recorder, and an increased number of onboard voices and styles, all of which really sound great.

People keep asking when I am going to upgrade to a SX-900 or a Genos, which will not happen - just not enough difference, IMO, and I would have to learn another OS, which is out of the question.

The S-950 served me very well on the road for lots of years, I recorded many of my performances on it, mainly so I could critique them and make improvements if necessary. Now, I mainly turn on the keyboard so I can assist others who are having problems. By downloading their registrations, OTS, styles, etc, and loading them into my keyboard I can usually assess the problem, fix it, then email the corrections back to them. I've done this hundreds of times over the past three years.

Mel, I agree with you 100% - I'm very happy with what I have.

I guess that statement describes my lifestyle ... grin ... the houses I've lived in, the job (career) I've had, my wife (56+ years), I've had for a long time ... but I digress ...
This also goes for my music gear - 4 KBs since 1990 - technics kn1000 and kn6000, KORG Pa600 and Pa900 ... Podium 10 speakers, Senn mic, etc. all of which fit my needs very well, and now that retirement might be somewhat forced on me, I cetainly don't need anything else ...

yeah Tony, you are about $30-40,000 ahead of me in keyboards alone. I should have been satisfied with my KN7000,but no---------

Bernie you can always sell off some gear and recoup some money.

It’s now clear why I sold my Pa4x – my direction was going in two directions. Now when I become bored, I dig into the Sx900 to learn more. I have all I need.

PS, I must confess, there is a little KMA under my desk, I am amazed at what it can do. And it fits rght under my arm when I am going someplace.

That where I'm at. I still enjoy the BK9 and find new ways to use it. Only wish it had a VH in it but no big deal if I have to use an outboard effect pedal. Also love my JBL EON Ones for my PA. Did an outdoor pool gig lasst friday with my sax player and two fo them filled the Pavillion area with great sound. Glad I didn't bring the sub.
Never say never but at this point it makes no sense to change anything.
