Cajun Music - 03/20/20 10:19 AM

Rather than highjack Gary's thread more, I'm posting this link to a folder of authentic Cajun songs by real Cajun bands. I compiled this collection for my wife, who is 100 % Cajun. Mean as a snake, by the way. smile
Cajun Songs

Maybe this will help pass the time in hibernation, I mean quarantine.

Thanks Don! I haven't searched (yet), but are there Zydeco or Cajun styles for arrangers grouped anywhere? Love the energy in that music!

Jambalaya is a great, classic, example of Cajun music. Perfect mix of instruments, yet it does have a bluegrass flavor.

Not much that I've found to be useful. Korg PA4X has a Zydeco style that is great for certain songs. I generally use country styles and try to play leads with fiddles, accordions and guitars. I'm not good at emulating accordions, so mostly use fiddles and guitars.

If we equated musical instruments to people, the accordion would be Hannibal Lector smile. The B3 - Christo Redentor.

Well, with Jambalaya popping up again I thought I'd post this again from about eight years ago. I still like it anyway. smile

Done on my old i30 (check yer local museum). Harmony courtesy of a Korg ih (check an older museum). smile

Once again, thanks for some very nice zydeco. Never get enough of it! Listened to every one of them and not a bad tune in the bunch.

Same here, but I remember it from 8 years ago and remember saying that it was one of most authentic performances I'd heard done on an arranger.

Chas, these are recordings by the original artists, not the ones I did on arranger. But thanks anyway!

And the B-3 would be a dinosaur ridden only by people who still live in the past unable to move forward with technology that filled the vacuum.

Actually it's newer than the piano....and the accordion. Just sayin'.

Saw 124 uploading Jambalaya, which is still hung up, so I thought I'd upload one I did at an upscale AL in February of this year.

If you have a korg, there is a style called walk of rock. That is dire straights' walk of life..A perfect cajun style.

124, you sounded like a "real southerner" there. Impressive, especially since I think you're from Canada.

Re: Cajun Music - 03/20/20 08:07 PM

Way to go Scott and 124 (great singin' too)!! Jambalaya is a great song and your performances got me craving some good 'ole Cajun food!

Looks like my Jambalaya will have to be "take out"....FL ordered all dine-in taboo today. Too bad for so many restauranteurs (and entertainers).

Thanks for posting your versions!

Well, if he IS from Canada, it must be SOUTHERN Canada ... grin Really enjoyed that, 124 ...

Scott, that was a really nice instrumental ... great technique, good choice of voices ...
THANK YOU both ...

Re: Cajun Music - 03/20/20 10:10 PM

Thank you Scott, Randy, Tony, for enjoying that.

Geographically, I'm about 400 miles north of the U.S. border, so not really southern Canada. The only 'southern' part of me is that I'm originally from South Wales - up the road from Tom Jones' birthplace. smile

Thanks for the kind words everybody. I do enjoy that song.

Donny, yes, I'm playing the Tyros 4 and love it. I see you're playing one too now. I never saw a need to go to the T5 and sure don't need a 76 key Genos. I don't think I'd sound much if any different the way I like to use a keyboard.

Scott I can't believe the T4 was something in the back of my mind to buy and waited this long vs all the many kbs I went thru with no success,.....in a way I am glad I waited I don't regret any of the previous, I chalk it up as a learning experience. Tyros 4 really sounds terriffic and I agree with your thoughts all the way.

Yes, Donny, it does sound terrific and it excites and inspires me everytime I play it.
