Digging DEEP into the OS of the EA7 style power

Watching this and this goes for every arranger keyboard on the market....makes you realize what it takes to make a Ho Hum factory sounding arranger kb sound GREAT...there is a big difference between the out of the box sound and a DEEP Operating system
edit & tweaking to make it sound so much better
....if you know how? ....if your not lazy?.....
and if you care enough to get your music to sound its optimal.

In a nutshell Donny, my Ketron SD7 sounds just as good if not better certainly in the onboard drums and basses. No doubt there are a couple of sounds in the Roland that will be superior to for instance the Ketron ( ac. guitars....) but I am not all impressed by this particular video. So what ? the guy has been at it for an hour to make a new style ? Everyone here in particular the Yammie guys have tens of thousands of styles, and so have you I guess. Many don't even alter the styles they have or barely but simply choose another (song) style to fit their needs, so be it, nothing wrong with that.
Sure, tweaking and tweaking your board to meet your personal needs and to get the best out of it is an imperative requirement. But sitting at it for over an hour to create just another style seems a bit farfetched to me. You will be meeting AJ shortly is my understanding. Let him demonstrate to you the power of the SD7 and even more so the SD9/90.
Don't get me wrong, the E-A7 is a very decent keyboard and the Dynamaix stuff is pretty good and sometimes very good. Added to that the fact that the cream of the crop here ( Don, Fran, you yourself etc.) use it on a daily basis is speaking for itself.
But imho it is still no match for the TOTL arrangers.

John I have been with Prince AJ many times...and yes I certainly know the differences between a TOTL & a MOTL arranger KB...
sound wise and everything else....but remember most of what I do is playing to backup my vocals...not play instruments like most do here..I have two scenarios left to try if I choose and are under my curiosity scope..one includes a KETRON SD9 as I already
had 2 SD7's already and every other ketron unit previously,....
the other is to just back away from arranger style play altogether and just make myself happy playing music with a
Hammond SK1/2 or Nord, etc,.. and a good drum machine &/or my custom backing tracks.

Yes Harold.. I have done this many times when needed to get the desired results,.... If you really care about your sound and your not lazy...
It certainly makes you a better musician because you music
is created, arranged and customized JUST FOR YOU..
In the end you will thank yourself you took the time to do it...
Don't let the factory dictate what you play.
How many of you really take the time to seriously tweak
& edit your styles and sounds...?

Harold... To become highly qualified is to do it by trial and errors...
It's not as difficult as it seems..

I reject Donny's implication that those who don't do this level of editing are "lazy." However, I will agree that the E-A7 is the easiest board to do this type of work on.

Since it is a toss up between money and time on this earth,I opt to just buy the best and be satisfied. Hoowever, there are some who are technically proficient,enjoy digging deep. That is a whole different story.

Looks like to me that you have succeeded with drums beating and colours flying as to the impressive array of arranger keyboards that you have. The only thing to do is to enjoy them really....

I barely dig deep into any on board style. I always felt that the engineers that developed the styles has it under control and I can't do any better than whats already done. I have tweaked user styles that don't convert correctly or use general sounds. I always felt there is no need to tweak any onboard style anything that is done will just make it worse.

Being you reject my statement of laziness....
what else would you call it? I'd be interested in hearing it.
If anyone is happy with just the factory sound & styles
that is their prerogative,.....but, I won't settle...
and I would always dig in and upgrade my sound as my audiences deserve it.

Yes, that was my point-they may be satisfied with the stock sound.

"Satisfied" and "not knowing"
are two different things is all I am saying about digging in.

This is my opinion, DYNAMIX has the BEST! styles that I have ever heard, I am not affiliated in any way, also I had two EA-7's and always loved the Roland Drums but for me were too complicated to program and I couldn't find anyone to give me a few tips so I sold them.

Vangelis, thanx for your input, ....I can understand what your saying and I have to be honest on some styles I struggle with getting
the EA7 drum kits just the way I would like also.
But with a bit tweaking & Eq you can get the drums to sound really good for sure.
I have never used Dynamix styles.
