Thank You DNJ...No concerns at all...Just trying to learn about all arrangers I may like to own. I'm without one now...would Love to own a Genos may have to wait for sometime in the future. Trying to think if the 900X would work for now...If it had 76 keys I would jump on it ...I like piano work...Enjoy your EA-7 Sincerely Harold

If I stare cross-eyed at my SX900 for a minute, it has 76 keys. This didn't happen with my previous Yamahas. It must be a new feature.

Hi Harold,
Have a 73 note p121 connected to my sx900. My set up is for home use, though.
At the moment use my laptop as an interface between sx and p121 ( p121 doesn’t have midi sockets only midi via USB)
Works really well for me.

I can play just piano.

I can play just using the sx900 keys .

I can play using p121 as controller. Mainly use this setup when I’m playing piano for melody. For this setup, I use registrations and a pedal to take me thru the variations for a song. Basically don’t need to touch keyboard except to pick next song.
I don’t like stacked keyboard configuration , so my setup is L shape, that’s where the pedal and registrations come into their own.
I have monitor speakers so that the sound of sx is coming from the front ( behind piano, not from sx which is at the side.

In hindsight ,Genos wouldn’t have worked for me anyway, I like fully weighted keys for piano.

Thank You Rikki...My problem is artritis in My Fingers and Hands. I agree the Hammer action on the Stage Piano is Best for sure to get the best Piano results. I have a New Casio PX-S1000 88 Key I take for others to use a Music Events. I could do as You Maybe combine the two. I would Not be playing full Piano at long periods of time I guess maybe 10%. I could also set the touch to light. I do like Good Styles while playing. A lot of thinking to do! I'm 71 and I know I have to adapt to change...Thank You again I may Have questions in the future. Sincerely Harold

Hi Harold,
I had it back to front. Somewhere in the back of my mind , I thought you liked the heavy weighted keys, possibly because you mentioned having a piano on an earlier post.
Genos, possibly be a good option for you in that case.

Too bad they don't (as far as I know) make a USB MIDI to real MIDI converter you can just plug in...these MFG need to KEEP the MIDI connectors some of us still want them. Not everyone uses a PC with a KBD. It costs then very little to do,

Hi Lee,
I find it disappointing too that they are dropping the midi sockets, still I was aware the p121 didn’t have them.
I can buy a little box of some sort as an interface, I’ve got them all noted down somewhere. Just haven’t gotten round to it yet.
My laptop works perfectly for time being. Currently not using it for much.

I can also do it via iPad & Bluetooth, don’t know if it’s imagined, but I think I get a touch of latency. Maybe way to go would be a powered USB hub instead of Bluetooth.
That option was mentioned on Yamaha forum.
