SX900 owners .... soft case - 12/05/19 11:03 AM

https://reverb.com/item/2189670-ultimate...w-extra-padding

Just bought this on Reverb - the Ultimate site says the size is perfect for SX7/9s.
Great price, and not a lot of loose, open space inside.

I used that same soft case for years with all my Psr/S-model Yamaha arrangers...works well, good protection & padding.

Didn't I sell you that one? lol I think it may have had a PA4x inside.

What kind of added protection, if any, is needed to protect the joy stick?

A careful handler! I'm the only one who carries my gear, so I'm very cautious, and gentle.
I never had a problem with that, but if it worries you, put a pillow inside?

Oh! That's a good one. smile
I cut a piece of foam to fit around the joystick. I'm careful too, but I've broken two of them.

The Gator G-PG-61 feels very substantial, but it's very expensive. It is semi rigid.
The Gator G-KB-61 - I can't recommend. I wheel my keyboard in sideways on a dolly, and all of my keyboards have developed chips or cracks. It's true that I'm a pretty frequent gigger. I would buy a case instead of a gig bag, but it wouldn't fit in the trunk of my sedan.
I'm praying that I can keep this new Yamaha in decent shape. It's hard to sell a keyboard with chipped plastic in the corner.

Common in 50yrs of gigs never had a hard case always soft.. ..never had a problem
... What are you driving in the Baja? Lol

Hi ,
Probably wouldn’t work for a soft case, but I was really worried when I shipped my 3 keyboards that that the joysticks might break, I made a circular covered cardboard surround to protect them. They were in their original boxes though, not in a soft case.

It's not the driving, it's always the same corner that gets chipped - I think from being vertical on a cart.

The bowl around the joystick sounds like a good idea. I was thinking along those lines.

Who made the soft case for your B-3 back in the day? LOL

I wrapped mine in a padded shipping blanket. The Dolly straps held it in place. I sure don't miss those days at all!

I bought one and had to return it. It wouldn't fit in my trunk. Hmm, maybe the corners of my keyboards are getting chipped from squeezing it into my trunk ...

Hopefully, the Gator G-PG will solve this. The padding is really thick, and the nylon outside is very rugged.

Uncle Dave's new bag looks pretty good, and what a price! 20mm of padding is above average.

B3 Legs cut and 147 Leslie were cut in half..
No case it would get all scratched and we would sand and refinish the wood it every year or 2..

Yup! Those Gator cases are thicker, but that makes them bigger, and bulkier too. Mine will fit in the back seat of my Fusion, or the trunk .... width-wise.
(That's the beauty!)

During my Hammond demo days.. I used a similar way to haul a Hammond.

The soft cover was like the shipping blanket Don used , but was fitted for the organ. Then I used a custom dolly that stayed fastened to the organ. And last but not least, I used a custom designed Ford Econoline to haul it.

It was okay for commercial Demos like Supermarkets or shopping centers. (Gather leads).
But "Home demos" were for the birds grin

What a beautiful thing... carrying a 46 pound G70. smile

I cut an M102 in half and cut a hand hole in each end. Made life easier. smile

No contest Go with the Gator Pro Go. Well worth the price. Don't get cheap protecting your instrument. It may cost you later

Bill, I also use the Pro Go ,I bought the slim for my BK9, and it would not fit, so I got the regular Pro Go, bingo... My G70 fits like a glove.. I no longer need the Gator with wheels (much heavier)., since I always use the cart now..

Nope. Not for me - I like room for people. The trunk is the place for my gear. smile
If it doesn't fit in there - I can't use it.
