My sx 900 has arrived in the shop.

got a message few minutes ago, my sx900 has arrived in the store. Now just have to wait for it to be shipped to my home, along with a yammie p121 piano.
Xmas is early this year. Haha

No road trip. 7 hrs.
Hubby hasn’t been too well for a week or so, getting better, but too long a drive for him.

Just have to wait.

Rikki - that sounds like a very powerful combination. The 121 has not disappointed me, and sitting under an SX900 ... it's gonna be great.

Haven’t received an invoice yet , dawned on me that maybe they’re still waiting on one of my p121 piano pak bits, I only decided to order the stand and pedals yesterday.
I should have been better organised, I didn’t expect the keyboard to arrive so soon. Wise in hindsight. Haha

glad to hear you’re still enjoying the 121. Must admit it was your post that got me interested in giving piano another go. Certainly can’t hurt, at least I used to practice.

Must admit it’s giving me something to look forward to. Playing a bit of piano, plus the keyboard.

I envision your sx900 on top of the 121, and no midi connection. Just feed the audio outs of the piano into the sx, so you can record both instruments together. All chording, bass, etc will be done on the sx, and you can solo, embellish, and comp on the piano, or the sx for great variety. Sounds like a killer rig.

Bad habit of mine when two or more instruments are involved my brain automatically takes me to “ Midi Connection”. I’ve had Korg controlling Yamaha keyboards, yammie controlling Korg, Band in a Box controlling both. To what end, I have no idea, but it was fun at the time.

Had been considering the p121 as controller, ( aware of the midi issue) but from reports appears that sx900 keys are better than earlier models, so probably won’t need to.

Your suggestion hadn’t even crossed my mind, hoping I understood correctly, I tend to over complicate.
so basically left hand sx for accompaniment
Melody played by right hand ,maybe left as well if I use chord looper , on the p121.

My pleasure Rikki. Just tryin' to feel the vibe of what you're building. If the 121 had a 5pin midi port, it'd be a different story, but for now, if the sounds are all coming from the Yamaha speakers, it'll be just like a stacked midi rig. Have fun! You'll be one of the first to play it on our little cyber block.

actually there may be a way around the missing 5 pin midi port, something to do with the iPad or phone and software. Read about it on Yamaha forum, if it works great, if I misunderstood, no big deal, I bought it knowing it didn’t have the 5 pin port, and I can always buy some sort of little box if I have to.

At the rate I’m going, maybe not haha. The shop is still waiting on my piano pedals and stand. I don’t want to have to pay extra shipping to get individual bits of my order sent.
They did me a great deal because I was getting everything shipped together.
Should have ordered piano earlier haha.
