Nice, enjoy! My wife and I did a big European vacation this year, and it did cross my mind more than once, about all the the keyboards I could bought for the money we spent traveling! Anyways, we had a great time and was it totally worth it! Memories last a life time, a new keyboard will be obsolete in due time.

Re: Vacation is over - 08/30/19 01:38 AM

Does anyone know if there is a regional ban on PSR tutorial forums..

I just got banned after making 2 posts from My hotel room here in Vietnamm?

No clue why really...

Was discussing which other key to use togeher with a Genos
And we where discussing a missingbfeature on live controll faders when used to controll a midi module with drawbar organs (for example my GSI Gemini)

Just can’t enter the website no more because of the ban..
They didn’t send me a mal explaining why, so i guess its a reionalmhing and something that happens automatically. Its not like i offended someone or so..

If someone that knows the admins of the website could ask and send me a PM with the reason, i would be thankfull.. normally i would hve asked Gary (traveling easy) but i havent seen him in a while..

Yes, I always have to use VPN to access psrtutotial from home. Also, once you are 'banned', you have to clear your cookies, before you try to log in again.

Lets hope its for exactly that reason..
Its hard to get into contact with the website.. with no access to the forum..

Re: Vacation is over - 08/30/19 06:29 AM

I have just copied this off the PSR Tutorial Website

The PSR Tutorial is managed and maintained by Joe Waters, Glen Allen, VA ( jpwaters@gmail.com).

It may be worthwhile sending them an email.

Thank you Bill for the effort..

I think its best to consider this topic closed now..
no need discussing this any further here..

Maybe while you're on vacation you should try to get away from keyboards (says the guy who travels with a Korg Micro Arranger)

What else to do when waiting on an airport or laying in bed unable to sleep from jetlag?
I mean posting on the internet about your hobby..

I do know that certain regions are blocked by various websites, because of the high rate of hackers that originate in those areas. Maybe that's the case with PSRT.

When in a Communist country like Vietnam, your internet can do strange things. For instance, Facebook and Youtube are blocked in Red China.

I got in contact with the administrators.. thanks to Bill
Seems indeed i used an ISP here in our hotsl that is banned for sending spam..

So when i am back in Holland, i will try to log in there again..

By the way, while vietnamm in name is a comunistic country..
With a communistic set of rules..

The people here are increibly friendly, cherish their freedom, and don’t seem to be hindred by the communism in their kapilistpic way of thinking..

I think after two days, i allready have a soft spot in my heart for this country and its people..

I think you will find good people all over the world. It is the regimes governing them that is the problem.

There are good dogs and there are bad dogs --- and there are good people and there are bad people who are greedy, they live with no rules accept what is good for me.

The few that are all about me, give the greater majority names they do not deserve.

I love people, I don't know what I would do without them, John C.

Re: Vacation is over - 09/03/19 03:50 AM

I have to share a wonderfull experience today..

Played a Vietnamese One string instrument
Just a single string with a kind of pitchbend at the end
Surprisingly where you picked a string with a small stick mattered as you got different tones on different parts of the string.
Somehow worked very different from playing guitarstrings with a plectrum
Because before playing the next note you first needed to kill the previous note by touching the snare with a dinger

Pitchstick could not only be used for changing pitch but also for adding modulation/vibrato

Its allways nice traveling and discovering things.

I still have to see the first keyboard here, even after a week, no piano eithers

Re: Vacation is over - 09/19/19 11:19 AM

We are back home again..
All i need to say is vietnamm was incrdible
Learned so much on my travels..
Incredible food and lovely people ..

All my travels made me realise something..
I will never be a good piano player..
But that doesn’t matter as long as i am having fun..
I decided to continue my musical travels witouth hammer action keyboard..
After realising that even after years of piano lessons, i still play better on semi weighted keys..

Put up the modx 8 for sale tonight...

Considering how and if to replace it...

- with a new synth/workstation 61-76 keys (Kronos 61, modx7, fa07, jupiter 80, stage3 compact, Roland vr-730)
- with an organ style setup v-console and a lower key (dexibell s1, numa compact x2, piagerro n-32)
- with a software based setup (novation sl mk2, arturia mk2) and ipad or a new mac mini

Offcourse the Genos will be the central piece of my setup...
And maybe, i will even decide to stick to just the Genos as the keyboard..

If vietnamm made me realise one thing..
Its that you don’t need much to be happy..

Welcome back Bachus!

I had a similar realization when I visited Nashville for the first time. When you compare yourself to the best in the world, it is sobering. But as you say, enjoy what you can do and appreciate it for what it is.

Hi Bachus ,
If you ever need to find somewhere weird and wonderful to go on vacation, check out my son’s travel blog, he just got back from an 8 month holiday.

He’s literally been all over the world and to some very obscure places. He did his first overseas trip at 20 yrs old and hasn’t stopped travelling since.

Comes home , works, saves up, goes on holidays..

He’ll have a lifetime of great memories(, if nothing else.haha. ) It’s his thing, he just loves travelling and meeting people. He’s got his next job lined up, be interesting to see how long he lasts before the travel bug bites again.

Hi Bachus,
Spot on, as long as you’re having FUN.
I realised 25 years ago I was never going to be a good piano player, having to sell my acoustic pianos gave me the excuse to give up totally.
I’ve totally enjoyed fiddling round with synths, keyboards etc for the last 25 years, but that was playing round with technology , not playing music.
As Crossover mentioned in one of the posts, it’s NEVER too late to Learn, one of the students is 70, so better late than never, I’m going back to try play music and have FUN.

New keyboard with styles that suit what I play.
And a new piano .

Good luck with what you decide is right for you.

I never ever eat that good... the vietnamese food is influenced heavilly by French, Thai, Chineese, Japanese, American and Korean kitchen... it was as diverse as the country itselves and allways made me smile..

Bachus - Did you by chance, get some Rambutons over there? Just had my first one yesterday! Very tasty. Strange looking fruit but a very pleasing taste!

Tony and Bachus - don't mean to take the post sideways.... but yesterday the wife and I went into an Oriental Market and the lady had us try them - they were quite delicious... and so we bought a half dozen. They are like the kid's toy balls you see sometimes - the "spines" are like soft rubber....no sharp edges...just very flexible.

OK, that's different ... Those spines scared me ... grin

Yes, its a kind of lychee, quite popular in China..
There was a huge amount of fruit there..
Like dragonfruit, jackfruit..

I foundthe whole lowlands of Vietnamm to be extremely fertile..
