There are suppost to be key Improvements to the song player section

I have sent them a full list of needs in this area and have been told that it was addressed

lets hope so it really needs to be fixed

i would like to see better connection with cubase like other yam products
aka montage and cp

but not holding my breath here

i would like to see a after market screen glare inhancement

it is dreadful out side

or under floro lights

this is big Problem too

No TILT UP & GLARE screen was a big mistake
for Genos 1.....& one of the things that made me pause and not buy first time around,....
also the overall keyboard is HUGE...
Waiting at this point would be the smart move wink
if your in the mood for a Genos 2 & if that ever will materialize.

The answer from Yamaha to the outside screen problem was simple and stupid
The Genos is not meant to be used outside,,,

Re: Yamaha Genos - 06/04/19 12:15 PM

Outside or inside it stinks and the glare from either sun or on stage overhead recessed lighting etc etc is horrendous for the player.
for that kind of money they should have designed a
TILT UP DISPLAY..

sheeesh...... even my Old Technics KN5000 had one!! mad

Yamaha should take a lesson from KORG in design..

They all suffer when used outdoors because they do not utilize supertwist LCD displays, which is used by every marine product that has been produced in the past 20 years. Sure it cost more, but when I addressed this problem to Yamaha their response was "Less than 1/100th of 1-percent of our users play outdoors - we do not feel this is a problem." They're probably right about the numbers and feel the economics don't fit.

My Kn1000 and Kn6000 had one but sadly KORG dropped it on the later MOTL models frown

Yes also because of the size of the unit, really overdone as getting flight cases etc is an expensive and sizeable problem. I wonder whether there would be a stick on filter for the screen to fix the outside issue. Of course the ability to add an external display will help. Other than that it’s a fantastic sounding instrument with lots of great features. Please Yamaha work with TC Hellicon and get the harmony engine right, one thing where Korg is on track.

Genos sounds and styles sound great.....

Since Behringer now owns TC Helicon...it will be interesting to see how their harmonizer technology will be licensed.

Maybe that’s why Korg is waiting to release it’s next TOTL arranger. Having to pay a rival keyboard manufacturer for technology would suck.

Korg is not waiting with releasing a new totl arranger,,
I still expect it later this year, right on their 4 year release schedule
And yes, also the pa3x had a major software upgrade about 6 months before the pa4x released

Bachus, Does it not make sense that leasing Behringer’s vocal harmony technology, might be a bitter pill for Korg to swallow?

Very well said. There’s an old saying “you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.” Nothing’s perfect if there is I haven’t found it yet.

The details on the 1.4 v update have been posted. Can’t see that they have done anything more than they eluded too, but you never know until the actual update is posted tomorrow.
