I hope Nigel doesn't mind me referring to another forum. Your question is answered by this post on Korg Forums:

Here are a couple of direct links to the comparison chart referenced in the post:

Obviously the PA1000 dominates both of these. I've heard some impressive demos of the PA700, and I seem to recall that the PA900's keybed came in for some criticism, although I'm not sure improvements were made with transition to the next generation.

Thank you but thats a comparison between pa700 and pa1000.
I’m looking for pa700 vs pa900.

And the images are very blurry here, is it just on my computer?

The pa900 is based of the pa3x, its an older model, not for sale anymore..it has vocal harmony onboard.. it was followed by the pa1000.. it was released aabout 5 years ago

The pa700 was released last year as the follow up of the pa600 and is based on pa4x technollogy.. its a model below the pa1000..it doesnt have a VH on board...

Where it comes to sounds and other options.. the pa700 has a modern sound engine.. and many of the newer features of the pa4x..

I would say the Pa1000 would compare to the Pa900 as it was mid range.

Although I'm pretty happy with the Pa700 it meets my needs.

Re: Korg PA700 vs PA900 - 06/04/19 09:28 AM

Bachus my point is that the PA700 is not superior to the PA1000 in any way. I agree that there were meaningful improvements from the PA600 / PA900 generation, to the current generation (except I'm not sure that the keybed was changed or improved.)

If the feature set of the PA700 doesn't meet the original poster's needs, then he should be looking at a PA1000, not a PA900. My $.02.

Sounds to me like the 700 will be sufficient for your needs.

Does PA-700 have Flipper 6/8 or Schlager 6/8 style ?

Re: Korg PA700 vs PA900 - 06/30/19 02:29 PM

I replaced my Pa800 with the Pa900 – then to a pa4x. Because of the weight I now have a Pa1000, which is very closed to the Pa700.

If the Pa700 is new, I would go in that direction. The Pa900 was a good keyboard, but it has years behind it.
Even if the Pa700 is used, then there is no contest.

But ---- none of this makes a difference. Like Donny said: It’s what sounds and feel good to you. You should listen to everyone, but the last choice is yours. If there is not a big price difference, I would buy a Pa1000, it offers more.

Its fun getting a new keyboard, John C..

Had the Pa900, now have the Pa700, from my personal experience, I believe the 700 offers more for me with my trio..also, kept having that issue with a note hanging on the 900.

Pa700, psr 775, vr09, numa2, modx8.

Re: Korg PA700 vs PA900 - 07/01/19 01:16 PM

PA1000 Thin metal plates bonded under keys, small key improvements.
1000 Buttons Plastic...700 are rubber.
1000 Better larger Mid-Bass unit with separate dedicated tweeter
700 has smaller concentric Mid-Bass unit with small tweeter dome.
1000 has larger memory for Sampling.

Pa700 is best value but Pa1000 for me is worth paying extra because hopefully the many years of ownership the difference is minimal.

Careful I may be talking myself into a purchase...Ha!!!

scameron, I have owned a 900 for several years and am quite pleased with it ... can you tell me what the 700 offers over the 900?
Also, what is the "note hanging" issue on the 900?
Thank you

Isn't it: 1000 harmoniser, 700 no harmoniser? If you don't sing, then it's no biggie.

I guess it's the old persistent Korg snag that's cured with the SHIFT-START/STOP button manoeuvre.

Since I don't believe in a jinx, I'll say it ... I have never experienced that problem ...

This has been around forever. I've experienced it maybe three or four times in the eighteen years I've had with Korgs from i30 up to Pa3x, so hardly catastrophic. It seems to occur mainly if you've got naturally sustaining sounds in use - e.g. you might have an organ on first and second sounds, strings on the third, and a pad on the fourth slot. Add a bit on a sustain pedal and you'll likely induce the hanging note.

Using that sort of a combination of sounds is probably rarer than the 'hanging note' occurrence itself.
