Damned you, Don Mason...

Damned you, Don Mason... - 05/19/19 01:31 PM

for putting songs out for me to perform. wink Just kidding.

However, Don is responsible for me learning and performing this song, one that I struggled with because of my nasty lung problems.

I went to the pulmonary lab Friday for pulmonary function tests, and the news was all bad, which I was sure it would be because of how I physically felt lately. My lung functions are down 18 to 33 percent from what they were six months ago, and they were pretty bad then.

The song that has been dancing around in my head for several months is The Last Time I Saw Her Face, written by Gorden Lightfoot in 1971. I sincerely believe Glenn Campbell did the best rendition, though. Mine I is pale in comparison, but I gave it my best shot.

Thank goodness, summer has arrived!

Gordon Lightfoot was pretty darn prolific, Gary... and you did a great job on a beautiful song. Thanks for sharing. ----Dave

Hi Rikki. Glad to see you back here on the forum again. Don and I have been friends for quite some time, and I sincerely enjoy the song challenges he sends my way from time to time. This is one of the last he sent me, and it's one of those songs that gets in my head and will not go away.

Thanks for the compliments,

Gary

Hi Gary,
Must admit getting older kind of sucks, but at least we’re all doing it together. Haha.
I hope to get a bit more involved again . Finally unpacked my keyboards again after nearly a year, and must admit I’m really enjoying playing my psr s950 again, nearly sold it last year, and ever so glad I didn’t.
Smashed my right wrist badly in a fall last year, and it’s been nearly a year waiting to see if I got full use of my right hand again. Lucky for me the removal of the plate last month, solved my problems.
Trust me to land on my right hand instead of my left, I would have still been able to play one finger chords . Haha.

Keep entertaining us Gary, and all the best .

Not sure I have sufficient lungs left for this one, Donny. I'll give it a try when I get home later today.

All the best,

Donny, I gave it my best, but unfortunately, I no longer have the lung capacity to do the harmonies, which are an essential component of this song. I'll try again later this evening after some Jim Bean Honey and switch the oxygen line to the office connection.

Hi Nigel and John,
Thank you.
Took nearly a year to get over it, Just so thankful I did.
next time I’ll watch what I’m walking on, thought it was a puddle of water, but it was black ice. Discovered little old ladies don’t bounce. Haha.
Downside of moving to a freezing climate. But the grandkids live down the street now, and we live the capital of v8 car racing Bathurst. Hubby is in car heaven.
