Donny, I eliminated a mixer from my setup two decades ago - just one more thing that wasn't necessary and one more thing that could drop dead in the middle of a performance. Today's onboard vocal processors are outstanding, but like all vocal processors, they have to be fine-tuned for your vocals. This takes a bit of work, and I guess there are lots of entertainers that don't want to take the time to make them sound great. It probably took me about a week of working with the onboard processor to get it right, but it was well worth the effort.
I recently recorded this song using the PSR-S950's vocal processor, no harmonies, mainly because the song just doesn't need any, which is often the case. I think you'll find the vocals are crisp, clear and clean, which is what I wanted to achieve.
