WOW, not fun to have that happen. Never had that happen but once about 6 years ago I was using an X-stand type keyboard bench. It wasn’t that well constructed I set it up at an assisted living facility, sat on it and it collapsed. I was fine but thought I’d have to dial 911 for the residents who looked like they could have heart attacks.

I only used an X Stand for a short time years ago. I screwed a piece of chain across the arms as a saftey net. As they say "Its not if your X stand will fail, its when"
Saw the same thing as the video happen to a guy in the NJ Toms River Elks club. Ever been there Donny ?
Felt so bad for him I helped him get his keyboard up on a table so he could keep playing.

Lesson to be learned..
Never use an X-stand..
They are less reliable..
And instable..

Just to even it out, I've used a double brace X stand for 18 years without any problems.

I like your chain idea though, Bill.

I too have used a double X-Stand for about 15 years - never had a problem.
That said, I would not use a single X-Stand.

Now I know why these Yamaha DGX comes with a stand. It is a heavy keyboard indeed. I’m worried about the man’s feet. It felt right on them. But he acted as a professional keeping his stage look.
