Changing setup, selling gear - 01/02/19 08:31 AM

Been with my current setup for almost 2 years now.. i just feel like its time for something new, and so i am selling much of my keyboard gear.. its pick-uo in Holland, or i can deliver them for a small (gas) fee..

Pa4x 76 with ec5 pedal €2350
Korg Kronos 88 (1st series) with half damper pedal €1800
Kurzweil pc3x with triple pedal €750
Roland Edirol PCR-800 masterkey €125

Its not my idea to sell, but my wife made me sell them befoee i am allowed to buy something new. Looks like she knows me well, the Kurz is the predecesor of the Kronos and still standing around.

If you were to replace gear, choices are?

Genos on top of kawai vpc1, combined with ipad and mac mini..
Or the new yamaha CP stage under the genos, if its released at NAMM...

I was really going for the ketron sd90,
But the fact that you can not edit voices in styles made me decide in another direction..

I guess it is hard to serve two masters. I am guessing you are leaning more to the software side.

Hey Bernie, I don't know about that. I'm on my third wife and haven't served any hard time in jail yet! smile

Bachus are you sure you want to sell the Pa4x? Check out the video and after the young lady starts her dance check out what the keyboard player is using. Some new possibilities for gigs

Bachus, is this fall under boredom?

The up side is that it is FUN. Some of my best times were when I replaced with something new.

Enjoy my friend, John C.

Not even boredom..
Just the desire to try something new..
I had so much fun exploring the modx
I want more of that fun..

And being a home player makes it easier to transfer.
I dont have to convert much, i just can start anew..

I don t expect any new genos at namm or in the first few years to coe..

Relating a new lower keyboard, i will definately wait for Namm, there could be a potential gamechanging new cp from yamaha

But you need to start early when selling,
Its becomming harder and harder to sell gear in Europe

Well it seemed to me the music just repeated the same thing over and over and some girls were wiggling around to it. I had trouble sitting through the entire thing. But that's just me and I'm really old.

With all the fabulous sounding VST's available and you have listed,
why not just go totally software VST, daw,
88 keycontroller,..especially if your playing in your bedroom,
house, etc, & not playing out....
save some money too vs hardware. cool2

Because there are some things not available in software...
Like an arranger with multipads..
V-arranger is still missing quite a few pro features...

The biggest reason i stick with mostly hardware, is on the software side nothing works out of the box... and thats why software for me only works great in addition to hardware..

Hardware arrangers come with a whole lot of content.. and on top of that all sounds are ballanced with eachother...

And please don’t call it bedroom, call it home studio...
I asked you this before, yet still you keep saying bedroom as if you wanted to insult all non giggers. So i ask you nicely once more, please stop using the word bedroom players. Because in the way you use it, its insulting and probably meant to be...

I am sorry and apologize if the Loosely termed "bedroom Studio" reference which so many use offended you, for me a recording/rehearsal studio takes on a whole different meaning.....
As shown....
good luck with your music wherever you play it.

Everything with a daw and a keyboard is considered a home studio..
We are talking about 2 different things..

Sold the pa4x for €2300..

Now looking for a resaler in Holland that wants to take the kurzweil as a trade-in on the ~genos.

And then i will wait for Namm and see what to do with the Kronos..
I am expecting something big on Namm..

A new cp from yamaha
A new kronos replacement from korg
A new workstation from Roland
And a VPC1 update from kawai
And something 88 keys and blue from dexibell

Bachus, did you sell the MODX? You liked it a lot a few months ago, what are your thoughts now?

Do you know what Roland has to release soon? Or Korg?

No, i am not selling my MODX..
Its a perfect companion when on the raod for buiseness..

But the Kronos and the Kurzweil got sold this week..
Leaves me with €2100 in my pocket,
And offcourse a wonderfull Genos
and after NAMM i will decide what to buy..
The list might even get longer

Could be a Masterkey..
-KAwai VPC1
-Studiologic SL88 grand

Or a stage piano
-Roland RD2000
-Yamaha CP88
-Yamaha P515

Or maybe even a used stage piano
-Roland RD800
-Yamaha CP4
Which seem more fitted for a position directly under the kronos.

All of these have high end keybeds..
Might even add more to this list after NAMM
Still hoping on a few announcements from For example Roland.

Re: Changing setup, selling gear - 01/17/19 07:38 AM

Bachus good luck with ALL your new gear and what ever is next,
I see your already looking for something else to get excited about......have fun.
But for me now that I'm looking from the outside in, that said, no offense but Boy am I glad I weaned myself off the Gear Buying/Hoarding disease I was bit bad! Nothing out there excites me at all.And especially now when it seems like it's all repetition with each release in the keyboard world not like when it was fun years ago with so many choices and new features. I'm happy with just making myself a better player and singer. At this point I'm going with LESS is MORE.

I am not looking for so,ething else, this was planned from the beginning... a high end piano action as the lower keybed in my 2 part genos... V-console style..

https://youtu.be/cEGcls25nqo

Thats why i sold the kronos...

Re: Changing setup, selling gear - 01/17/19 12:55 PM

You can almost do the same with vArranger than with vConsole but only 8 parts for left/right hand vs 16 parts
But you have 8 parts for the arranger smile
