White Christmas in Louisiana

White Christmas in Louisiana - 12/10/18 09:43 AM

I wrote this last year and probably posted it then, but I don't remember. Can't remember what I had for breakfast either. smile
Anyway we don't, as a rule, get snow in Louisiana, so here's my irreverent version of the classic.

Funny. grin

Since Baby Its Cold Outside has been banned by the Me Too movement, how long before White Christmas is considered racist? crazy

Yeah, the 'Me Too' movement has just gone too far; pretty soon they'll be demanding equal pay for equal work, equal representation in government, and the right to make decisions about their own bodies. Boy, we sure screwed up when we gave them the right to vote. Heck, they're almost as bad as those unpatriotic 'thugs' in the NFL masquerading as peaceful protesters. And let's not even talk about that ingrate, LeBron; he should listen to that advice to just "shut up and dribble". Uh, hope I addressed some of your concerns. I'm sure most of them will be rectified over the next two years. A good start has already been made.

Apologies to Don for derailing his post (it was me, wasn't it?). But Don, you know how some things rattle me.

Re: White Christmas in Louisiana - 12/10/18 10:45 AM

I sang White Christmas Saturday for a couple's 36th anniversary, at their request.
There were about 18 of them at the table, and they all sang along and applauded.
They all were black. One gentleman asked for my card so I could do another anniversary for him and his wife in February.
The point is that Christmas should be a time for people coming together, and the so-called controversy over Baby It's Cold Outside is very disappointing, but I think it's just a political move of some sort. I try to ignore those things and just keep plodding on!
Sure are some sorry things going on these days though...

Not suprised at all. When it comes to music, whatever genre', Black people do recognize quality. I have to agree with you on the 'Baby it's cold outside' controversy. That's kind of pushing the boundaries smile. In fact, the Ray Charles/Betty Carter version is one of my al-time favorites. Does that make me a hypocrite? smile smile

Don,
we don't know much about the future, but if that ever happens, it would to me be a real honour and great pleasure. smile
Most likely I would be as starstuck and speechless that you had to speak with yourself for a long long time..... blush
