One of those moods...

One of those moods... - 11/08/18 05:22 PM

that strikes me about every two weeks hit again tonight. Today, I went to my boat to winterize the engine, water systems and air conditioning system, all of which would suffer severely if the temperature drops well below freezing. It took everything this 78-year-old had to do the tasks, which took about 4 hours.

Winterizing the boat is akin, IMO, to burying an old friend. I hate this job and so wish I were in the Islands right now and basking in 80 degree temperatures and watching the coconut palms sway in the trade winds. But, alas, I'm stuck in the People's republic of Maryland this winter.

With this in mind, I sat down at the PSR-S950 and recorded this song, one that I have always loved since I was just 18 years old when it first came out. I have to work on the balance between the vocals and backing, but that's a job for tomorrow.

Very nice! Haven't heard that in years, until today..2nd time in last couple hours. Interesting. I remember an organ version from Kirby Griffin..

Gary thanks for posting that tune. I remember it well as I do all the tunes from South Pacific. Back in the late 50s my parents had the album and played it on a regular basis.

Musicals were in their "heyday" during my school years... and South Pacific was a box office smash. So many great tunes but Bali Hai topped them all. Great rendition. If winterizing your boat can bring about these desires to sing and record... you need to be out there scrubbing away, draining lines, etc. at least once a week! LOL! Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed all the memories it brought flowing through my frontal lobe. ----Dave Rice

"Better to have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy"

Here's another one I like..... "I always carry a flask with me in case of snakebite; and just to be on the safe side, I also carry a small snake"

and on his tombstone...."on second thought, I'd rather be in Philadelphia" (after years of proclaiming that he'd rather be in hell than in Philadelphia) smile.

Guess who said all these famous quotes.

After listening to Garys great rendition I felt the "MOOD" needed just a bit more as it took me away to another place in my head so I took the liberty of slightly remixing it with sound fx of what I thought in my head to create the right mood of laying in the sand in the south pacific...Great song Gary. cool2
