Thanks everyone, for a wonderful day. I went sailing on the upper reaches of Chesapeake Bay, the weather forecast was for sunshine, 61 degrees, winds 12 to 15 MPH from the west. Well, the weather forecaster got some of it right. The temperature was a brisk 51 degrees and the winds were WSW at 30 to 40 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH. Made for a bit of a bumpy ride with waves to 5 feet and a bit spray coming over the bow once in a while. Overall, though, it was lots of fun.

Would have loved to have you on the boat, Russ. Just got a call from the relatively young couple that went sailing with me yesterday. The husband said "Gary, you have balls the size of Bayonne! We had a ball, couldn't believe how much fun it was, and all of my sailing friends said they would have never left the dock when the winds were blowing that hard. I really learned a lot from you and we're looking forward to our next sail with you."

So pleased you had a great birthday sailing Gary. That is what life is all about. Though if my wife Kerry ever comes out on your boat with you she would insist on stopping somewhere so she could do some fishing. She loves fishing and that makes for awesome meals because she is an outstanding cook as well. A great combination of talents.

Thanks Nigel. If you and Kerry ever get to my part of the world, I'll be sure to take her fishing. Long before I went back to playing music full time, I was a free-lance outdoor writer for two dozen fishing and boating publications. I fished more than 200 days a year throughout the length of the US East Coast, both freshwater and saltwater. The only problem I usually have when taking women on the boat fishing is more often than not they catch more fish and bigger fish than I do.
