SD40/SD90 for gigging

SD40/SD90 for gigging - 10/15/18 11:16 AM

Been impressed with my Casio 560...mostly for home entertainment. The voices/rhythms/keyboard action have been better than I expected.

I’m toying with the idea of adding a Ketron SD40/90 for a possible gig someday. Thoughts on which one(SD4/90)you would use?

No plans at this point to replace my Genos. It’s hard to imagine replacing my Genos for what it can do...and my Genos is just plain fun to play.

Thing is, I’m enjoying hammered action(simulated) more and more.

Thoughts?

While we don't play out, I'd go with SD90. If offers a number of controls on the front panel that on the SD40 are two maybe more levels deep in the touchscreen. There are other features available on the SD90, but the ability to quickly reach over and grab a slider or push a button is enough to give the nod to SD90.

SD90 for sure. I had the early and later MidJays and SD40. The SD90 wins overall in real time control, outstanding sounds/styles realism, extensive, deep features and of course it's portability.
For controllers, I'm using Korg Microkey 61 for travelling and Nektar GX61 for local performances.

Of coarse, if money, weight, and space, were of no concern. It also depends on how spontaneously you play. I have all the variations I need with my SK1 and SD40 and registrations.

Tx all. Not sure if I’ll do anything at this point. This info helps.
