In short, I'm using 2 DNC Jazz and concert guitars for Upper 1 & 2 and one Acoustic Bass for Upper 3. I'm also using a foot pedal to trigger assignable switches 1 and 2.

Nice chops! I would like to hear that with RH jazz piano, as you play really well!

Thank you very much. Moondance was playing on the radio at the gas station so when I got home I was still thinking about it. It's just a random spontaneous improv pretty much.

Thank you Zuki,

I know why you would say that. My Guitar techniques are not convincing at all, so that's definitely one area that I should focus on. I catch myself doing Piano specific techniques with Guitar presets. Not good!

Playing instruments the way they should be played and sound on an arranger is an art form all by itself you can't play a trumpet like a piano for example something to think about very seriously when you're playing.

No knock at all on your guitar playing. I just would like to hear your piano skills too smile

I can't play a lick of background guitar (like DonM), so I stick with piano or organ. I do play a lot of guitar solos though.

Totally! This is actually an art form on any platform including music scores...unless it's intended to be performed in a certain way. Even Beatles used polyphonic Mellotron flute patches that were played like a keyboard! They could've easily hired a flute choir but they liked that sound.

In my case, I heavily gravitate towards Piano because that's my comfort zone. When I improvise, as soon as I run out of ideas I use Piano techniques as lifeline to get myself out of trouble, so mindset has everything to do with it. I need to be more efficient with assignable switches for sure.

Also it's way harder to turn off the Style features and try to sound authentic without automatic accompaniment running in the background. On top of instrument specific articulations and characteristics, you also have to think about everything else.

I want to experiment with those Tele Guitars and everything else that has that country tone to it. I almost have no performance experience with this genre. I'll give it a try!

I have posted some Piano and EP videos in the past. I'll share some newer ones.

You certainly have to think like the instrument sounds always...

Hi Frank,

Thank you for the link. Unfortunately none of this is applicable to the Pa4x (or any Korg Arranger keyboard), as Guitar Mode is NOT supported in real time. This feature is exclusively available in Style Record mode. Also different keys do different articulations with different sounds and that could quickly become a problem when you stack or layer sounds. This link would be totally useful if one were to do DAW sequencing using a soft synth such as this.

The sounds used in this video are DNC sounds with a Bass sound assigned to the lower section of the keyboard. There's a damper and midi foot controller involved as well, so both hands and feet are taken.

I've been using these as somewhat of a tutorial in case I ever get back to arranger playing. Guitar and banjo playing have always been somewhat of a mystery to me.

Mark,
All these soft synth videos are the wrong tutorials, if you're trying to play Korg's DNC Guitar sounds. They're just not relevant for the same reason I mentioned earlier. For some reason Korg decided to limit the Guitar Mode feature to Style record mode only.
