Personally John I would look at a NEW LD Maui 5 instead...
but that's me. Call Frank at Audioworks. wink

I've used Bose Compacts (not for sale) since they were introduced and purchased the Maui 5 as a back up ... was disappointed with the sound - not as crisp and clean as the Bose. I returned it and got a second Compact. This is my subjective opinion of course.

I had just the opposite experience. I had two Compacts, got two Maui 5's, but them side by side and much preferred the Mauis.
The bass is deeper and there are more connections and e.q., and Bluetooth if you ever need it.
Half the price of the Bose!

My 2 cents. Last year I took the Bose Compact and Maui LD5 to Tony Mad’s home and we A/B tested. Both of us agreed the Maui had the edge. However, I find for whatever reason my Genos seems at least to these ears sound better thru the Bose Compact. No matter what the pricing on the Maui and Bluetooth and bass make it a nice buy.

I not had any experience with the Maui 5 system, however, having used Bose L1 systems for more than a decade, I can honestly say I have never been more satisfied with any sound system as much as the Bose L1 and L1 Compact. The clarity is unsurpassed, IMO, and the overall sound quality is absolutely superb from bottom to top. As for the price, I don't care what they cost - I just want to sound great to my audiences.

I have a Bose Compact, and a Pa4z with no speakers. Brought home two Yamaha studeo speakers --- $199 each. They had some at $299 and $399. Not to my liking.
I thought of buying two Bose S1 speakers. $1.200 + dollars. That's when I thought of a used Bose compact, that would give me stereo and the Bose sound. And it would look great with a speaker on either side.

This set up has very little chance of going on a job, and it is a bit over-kill for my home -- but who cares. (smile) The Pa4x is also not needed.

I am open for any ideas, John C.

They are pricey but I’ve been very happy with my Bose S1’s. Used them in a big hall. Very satisfied with the sound.

I agree with Don and Dnj....I have both, the Bose Compact and the Maui LD5 and the LD5 is to my ears a better choice, besides that is almost half the price of the Bose... and lighter...!!!
I find myself using the LD5s all the time now...

My 2 Cents

Let me change the direction of my post.
I wannt two speakers for my Pa4x. They will only be used in my studio. But I want high quility, the Pa4x deserves it.

John, for home studio work, I would go with any of the high end Logitech systems. They're incredible!

John you won't need much to cover a small space like that.
Good luck in whatever you choose.

I heard one on the street, pianist singer using it as a PA, sounded like a Bluetooth speaker.
